President rejects No-Confidence Motion against Mahinda Rajapaksa, Cabinet

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena has rejected the No-Confidence Motion brought against his appointee for Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday (14).

In a letter to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, President Sirisena stated that the proper Parliamentary procedures was not followed when the No-Confidence Motion on Rajapaksa was submitted to Parliament yesterday.

Earlier, the Speaker, in his letter to the President, had proposed that action be taken in line with the Constitution after the No-Confidence Motion on his [The President] appointee for Prime Minister was passed.
