(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court has issued orders to the Attorney General for charges to be filed against State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, over the second instance of Contempt of Court, within a period of one month.
Accordingly the case will be taken up for hearing on the 30th of July.
State Minister Ramanayake is charged with making a statement pertaining to the fundamental rights petitions filed over the dissolution of Parliament during the 52 day coup, prior to a verdict being delivered by the Supreme Court over the matter.
The charges were taken up for hearing before Supreme Court Judges Jayantha Jayasuriya, Vijith Malalgoda and Murdu Fernando today.
