Richard Branson disappointed with Sri Lanka’s decision to implement death penalty

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sir Richard Branson, legendary entrepreneur and business leader, on Wednesday (26) stated that he was disappointed with Sri Lanka’s decision to implement the death penalty.

“Sri Lanka turning back the clock on human rights by resuming executions. Disappointing news from a beautiful country,” Branson tweeted.

“Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena wants to bring back the death penalty in Sri Lanka. I hope he takes a cue from the Maldives President and decides otherwise. Executions can be devastating and are never the solution. The wonderful people of Sri Lanka deserve better than this,” Branson added.
