(UTV|COLOMBO) – The next President of the country will not be a criminal who massacred journalists and innocent people, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources State Minister Dilip Vedaarachchi said.
He was addressing a meeting of political activists in Unakooruwa, Tangalle recently.
The State Minister said the next President, Sajith Pemadasa, will uplift the citizens and will not attempt to bring in his family members in the governance.
The candidate of the Pohottuwa party and his gang clamour that the power will be theirs, but the people will reject them as they know that the Pohottuwa candidate seeks power only to get rid of court cases, not to develop the country, he said.
Sajith became a minister from scratch. He emerged from the common man starting his political journey from Hambantota where the poor suffers untold hardships. He became the Deputy Leader of the largest political party in Sri Lanka – the United National Party (UNP) and will be the President of the country before long, the State Minister said.
The government launched many developments schemes including the Enterprise Sri Lanka in the past three years. Small and medium budding entrepreneurs were provided with loans and equipment to set up and develop their own business ventures, the State Minister said.
