(UTV|COLOMBO)- Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe questions whether the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa will help establish a new country after many failed projects under the United People’s Freedom Alliance led government.
Premier Wickremesinghe speaking at an event in Kolonnawa said the present government instead took measures to create an export driven economy.
The Premier pointed out that Gotabaya Rajapaksa claiming to build a new country, was his biggest fear.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe questioned how the country will fare, if the person who built a harbour that could not attract ships, an airport that has only peacocks, a cricket ground that has wild elephants and a convention centre without people builds a new country.
The Prime Minister said Gotabaya Rajapaksa is not new in the political arena, adding that he has not been in Parliament, but was the second in command, during the Rajapaksa regime.
Premier Wickremesinghe questioned the people if they wanted to elect Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who took all decisions after Mahinda Rajapaksa, during his tenure.
