(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology today (25) forecasted that the prevailing showery condition particularly in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country is likely to continue.
The conditions are expected to continue as the North-East monsoon condition is getting gradually established over the country and will be fully established by Wednesday (27).
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Southern and Uva Provinces, while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 PM.
Heavy showers above 100 millimetres are likely at some places in Northern and Eastern Provinces and in Polonnaruwa District, while fairly heavy showers about 75 millimetres are likely at some places in Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Anuradhapura and Hambanthota Districts.
Furthermore, the wind speed can be increased up to 40 – 50 kilometre per hour at times in Central hilly areas, Northern, North-Central, Southern and North-Western Provinces, and in Trincomalee District, the forecast added the misty conditions can also be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces during the morning as well.
