(UTV|COLOMBO) – With the conclusion of the 2019 Presidential Election, the disposing of garbage at the Aruwakkalu sanitary landfill site has commenced once again.
36 garbage trucks have reportedly reached the Aruwakkalu sanitary landfill site last night.
However, residents of Wanathavilluwa charge that the Aruwakkalu sanitary landfill site is severely impacting their day to day lives.
One of the prominent online news portal in the isle reports that the residents had also lodged a complaint in this regard with the Wanathavilluwa Police.
Those residing along the Colombo-Puttalam Main Road also charge they are burdened due to the odour emitting from the garbage trucks transporting garbage from Colombo to Aruwakkalu.
Stones have been pelted at tipper trucks transporting garbage from Colombo to Aruwakkalu on several occasions.
Speaking during a rally during the Presidential Election period, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said he will provide a solution to the issue related to the Aruwakkalu sanitary landfill site.
