Government allocates Rs. 166 million so far for flood victims

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Government has granted Rs. 166 million as flood and landslide relief to the affected districts to be utilized for the displaced people by 2nd June, Disaster Management Center (DMC) sources said.

This amount of money released by the Ministry of Disaster Management is being spent to fulfill the basic needs (cooked meals, dry rations, sanitary goods, infants’ food and milk powder) of the affected people through the Divisional Secretaries under the direct supervision of District Secretaries. More money will be released by the ministry on the requirement.

The DMC further requests any affected person, who has not received the relief provided by the government to write to the District Secretaries with the recommendation of the Grama Seva Officer and the approval of Divisional Secretary and to contact DMC through the hotline 117 for further details.

Countries including China, India, Pakistan, and Japan and the International Organizations Providing Humanitarian Assistance have made donations to Sri Lanka and all these donations will be given to the affected people, the DMC further said.
