(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The United States does not want to see a “permanent rift” between Gulf countries, a senior U.S. administration official said on Monday, after some Gulf and Arab countries cut ties with Qatar over alleged support for Islamists and Iran.
Still, the official said: “There’s an acknowledgement that a lot of Qatari behavior is quite worrisome not just to our Gulf neighbors but to the U.S.”
“We want to bring them in the right direction.”
