Al Pacino to play Joe Paterno for HBO

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Al Pacino will play former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in a new Barry Levinson-directed HBO feature which has yet to score a title.

The telemovie will deal with the time when Paterno, widely regarded as the best college football coach of all time, became embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal.

The incident challenged his legacy and forcing him to face questions about institutional failure on behalf of the victims.

Levinson will direct and will executive produce alongside Jason Sosnoff, Tom Fontana, Edward Pressman, Rick Nicita and Linday Sloane.
