(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – UPDATE: The Government officially took over the Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH) after an agreement signed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and NFTH Chairman Dr. Neville Fernando before President Maithripala Sirisena a short while ago.

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Health, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that the function to transform Neville Fernando Hospital into a Government Teaching Hospital will take place on Monday morning (17) at its premises under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Government has decided to take over the private hospital, Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH) in Malabe as a solution to resolve the controversy surrounding the South Asian institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) affiliated with the hospital.
