Navy Commander meets with IGP, Air Force Commander

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Pujith Jayasundara at the Police Headquarters in Colombo on Thursday (23). The Commander of the Navy was warmly received according a Guard of Honour, upon his arrival on the premises.

The Inspector General of Police extended his warm wishes and greetings to the Navy Commander before holding cordial discussions on matters of mutual interests. On completion of discussions, mementos were exchanged to mark the Navy Commander’s first official meeting with the IGP after assuming office as the 22nd Commander of the Navy.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy at the Air Force Headquarters in Colombo yesterday. The Navy Commander was accorded a Guard of Honour on his arrival at the premises. This also turned out to be the first official meeting between the top military brass subsequent to the appointment of Vice Admiral Ranasinghe as the Commander of the Navy.

The Commander of the Air Force conveyed his best wishes to Vice Admiral Ranasinghe on his new appointment and assured his fullest assistance to the Navy Commander’s endeavours during his tenure. The occasion was attended by a group of senior officers including the Director Generals of the Air Force. Mementos were also exchanged by the two commanders to mark the occasion symbolizing comradeship and goodwill.
