(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The United States Ninth Circuit Appeal Court voted 3-0 to uphold the suspension of the travel ban by the US President Donald Trump, initially ruled by Washington State Federal Judge James Robart.
The appeal was filed by the US Justice Department against Judge Robart’s decision to block the travel ban nationwide.
However, the Ninth Circuit Court ruled that the President does not have sweeping powers in terms of immigration policy.
The decision, if challenged by the Justice Department, will likely end up in the US Supreme Court.
