Michael Keaton returns for “Spider-Man” sequel

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Following today’s earlier news that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play the villain Mysterio in the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel, another name is joining the cast.

Variety reports that Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Adrian Toomes (aka. The Vulture) in the follow-up. Keaton’s character served as the villain of the first film and was last seen in a post-credits sequence in jail refusing to give up Spider-Man’s secret identity.

The film is also reportedly auditioning actresses in their twenties for a lead female role. The new film is expected to take Peter Parker out of New York for a European adventure set in the wake of the events of the fourth “Avengers”.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are writing the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel which sees Jon Watts returning as director. The film opens July 5th 2019.
