Nicolas Cage reportedly cast in ‘Into the Spider-Verse’

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Though he’s played a Marvel hero before in “Ghost Rider,” actor Nicolas Cage could soon be a part of a Marvel project again with a new report indicating he’s joined the voice cast of the animated feature “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” from Sony Pictures.

Discussing Film broke the story saying that Cage, who also starred in “Kick-Ass” and was very nearly Superman at one point, has apparently been cast as Spider-Man Noir. The character was a part of a decidedly darker alternate history version of the comic, this one set in the Great Depression of 1933.

The character is also one of the most popular alternate versions of Spider-Man, and it would make sense as it has already been established the new film will feature a lot of different versions of the hero from its main character Miles Morales (Shamiek Moore) to Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter Parker (Jake Johnson) among others.

A new trailer for the film is expected to be screened at San Diego Comic Con later this month.
