“Incredibles 2” hits USD 1 billion at record speed

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Nearly two months since its release, Disney and Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” continues to break records with the movie crossing the $1 billion mark yesterday. That makes it Disney’s 5th animated and 18th ever billion-dollar release, and the third this year following “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War”.

More importantly, the film took 47 days to reach the number, which beats all previous animated films in terms of speed. The film is also the first animated film ever to surpass the $500 million mark in North America and is now the ninth biggest overall release in U.S. history.

It also makes Pixar the first and only animated studio to have released three billion-dollar films. To date, thirty-six films have reached the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, with Disney responsible for releasing eighteen of them.
