Zimmer, Faltermeyer to score “Top Gun 2”

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Oscar winner Hans Zimmer will join Oscar nominee Harold Faltermeyer to compose the score for the highly-anticipated action sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” at Paramount Pictures.

Faltermeyer composed the score for the original 1986 classic, with the sequel his first reunion with Cruise since that film. With the exception of “Cop Out” in 2010, Faltermeyer hasn’t composed a theatrical release score since the early 1990s. Other works include the first two “Beverly Hills Cop” films, both “Fletch” films, “Tango & Cash,” “The Running Man” and “Kuffs”.

Zimmer previously worked with Cruise on “Rain Man,” “Days of Thunder,” “Mission: Impossible II” and “The Last Samurai”. Zimmer has scores for “Dark Phoenix,” “The Lion King” and “Wonder Woman 1984” all releasing next year.

Joseph Kosinski is directing the new “Top Gun” from a script by Peter Craig, Justin Marks and Eric Warren Singer. Jerry Bruckheimer produces the film which opens 26 June, 2020.
