Anderson, Phillips added to New Zealand T20I squad

(UTV|COLOMBO) Corey Anderson, the all rounder, and Glenn Phillips, the wicketkeeper-batsman, have been added to New Zealand’s squad for the forthcoming three-match T20I series versus Pakistan, starting on October 31.
The New Zealand selectors named an initial squad of just 11 players and had decided to fill in rest of the positions based on the performances of the players, who are currently playing for New Zealand A against Pakistan A in UAE.
Anderson and Phillips, who are part of the New Zealand A set-up, are expected to play the remaining two one day games against Pakistan A before joining the squad.
In the three-match T20 series against Pakistan A, Phillips emerged as the top run-getter with 126 runs. He was also in fine form in the CPL 2018, ending up as the second highest run-getter with 457 runs. Anderson, however, didn’t have a great time with the bat or ball versus Pakistan A, scoring 38 runs and picking up one wicket.
Phillips, who made his T20 debut during the 2016-17 season for Auckland, has compiled 97 runs in eight T20Is for New Zealand. Meanwhile, Anderson has a wealth of experience in the shortest format of the game, having played 122 T20s.
The all rounder, though, hasn’t played an international game since the ODI against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy last year. He also underwent a back surgery last year and struggled to make an impact for RCB in the IPL 2018, finishing with 17 runs and three scalps.
New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Corey Anderson, Mark Chapman, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Seth Rance
