(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – A Lion Air flight going from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang has crashed, an Indonesian official said Monday morning.
A Lion Air jet from Jakarta to Pangkalpinang on Bangka Belitung province lost contact with the air traffic controller at around 7.50am local time on Monday morning, airline’s Director Edward Sirait said.
Indonesia’s state air-navigation operator AirNav has alerted the search and rescue agency, Spokesman Yohannes Harry Douglas said in a text message.
The Boeing-737 Max 8 plane departed Jakarta at 6.10am and was scheduled to land at 7.20am in Pangkalpinang, Kompas TV reported.
