(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Nokia announced that they would be introducing the 3310 phone model to the market again, yesterday (26th February) at the Mobile World Congress tech show in Barcelona. This is the original handset that sold 126 million copies before going out of style in 2005.
Its launch price is £41.51.
“The 3310 was the first mass-market mobile and there’s a massive amount of nostalgia and affection for it,” Ben Wood, the technology consultant of CCS Insight, said. “So, the 3310 is a very clever move and we expect it will sell in significant volumes.”
The remodeled version will be sold by the Finnish start-up HMD Global. It is a ‘feature phone’ and not a smartphone, as it has limited Internet facilities.
It has 2.5G connectivity, fewer apps than Android or iOS, a two megapixels camera and is runs on the S30+ operating system. On the other hand, it has a colour screen, a 22 hours battery life and the characteristic feature of being very strong and durable.
