(UTV|COLOMBO) – UPDATE: Hearing of the Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions filed by political parties and civil society organisations against early dissolution of Parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena, resumed before the Supreme Court three-Judge Bench comprising Chief Justice Nalin Perera, Justice Priyantha Jayawadena and Justice Prasanna Jayawardena, a short while ago.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court on Monday (12) fixed for this morning (13) further hearing into Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions filed by political parties and civil society organisations against early dissolution of Parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena.

FR petitions were filed yesterday in the Supreme Court seeking an Interim Order to stay the operation of the President’s proclamation to dissolve Parliament which was published in an Extraordinary Gazette Notification.

The Supreme Court three-Judge Bench comprising Chief Justice Nalin Perera, Justice Priyantha Jayawadena and Justice Prasanna Jayawardena decided to commence hearing into these petitions at 2.00 PM yesterday.
