Marvel Studios plans a “Shang-Chi” movie

Marvel Studios

(UTV|COLOMBO) –  Marvel Studios is reportedly aiming to fast-track a film based on their Asian superhero character Shang-Chi (aka. The Master of Kung Fu).

Chinese-American scribe Dave Callaham (“The Expendables”) has been hired to write the script and is currently searching for Asian or Asian-American directors and cast members.

Essentially a spin on the 1970s TV series “Kung Fu,” the story follows a master of fighting who eventually gains the ability to create an infinite amount of replicas of himself.

The character has been a member of The Avengers and Heroes for Hire, the latter alongside fellow kung fu masters Daughters of the Dragon.

Callaham has been busy lately penning sequels galore including the currently in production “Wonder Woman 1984,” the soon to shoot “Zombieland 2,” and the in-development follow-up to “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”.
