(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena says the services of foreign judges will not be obtained for judicial activities pertaining to the country’s human rights concerns.
The Head of State made this statement at a meeting with the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and executive members at the Foundation Institute.
President Sirisena said he is firm with the international community that foreign judges will not be allowed to probe alleged human rights abuses in the country during the conflict claiming he conveyed the same to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The President conveyed that he will stand firm on his decision regardless of the opposition he might have to face internationally.
