Alastair Cook becomes 1st English player to attain knighthood since 2007

(UTV|COLOMBO) – England’s former skipper Alastair Cook joined Ian Botham in achieving a unique feat by an English player. The veteran, who retired from international cricket in 2018, becomes only the second Englishman to officially receive a knighthood since 2007.

Cook was bestowed with the title with regards to his relentless service in cricket at an investiture ceremony in Buckingham Palace. While Cook has retired from international cricket, he will remain active for Essex club with whom he signed a three-year deal last season.
