(UTV|COLOMBO) – Thurstan College Colombo thrashed arch- rivals Isipathana College by a mammoth 139 runs to claim the W.A De Silva Memorial Trophy at the P Sara Oval Grounds in Colombo yesterday evening.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Thurstan posted a commanding 256 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs.
Jayavihan Mahavithana top scored with 83 off 119 deliveries while R Silva contributed with an unbeaten 65 knock. For Isipathana, Damsara Dickwella picked up 3 for 55.
Chasing a tricky 257 run target, Isipathana was bundled out for a merger 117 in 36 overs.
Anupa Fernando scored 27.
Avishka Kaushalya had figures of 3/37 while Shalaka Bandara and Sandaru Dias picked for two wickets a piece.
Thurstan College also won the annual ‘Battle of the Brothers’ by 10 wickets last week.
