(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The release of the maiden waters of the Moragahakanda Reservoir took place in the presence of the President this morning (11th Wednesday).
The Moragahakanda Reservoir spans 29 square kilometers. The total cost of the project is estimated at 1150 million US Dollars. It is estimated that more than 94,000 hectares of land will be ploughed under the multipurpose project.
The Moragahakanda Reservoir will fulfill the water requirements of the people of the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces, the government expects.
