Kevin Hart to lead “Extreme job” remake

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Universal Pictures has secured worldwide rights to an English-language remake of the South Korean comedy hit “Extreme Job” with plans to turn it into a Kevin Hart vehicle.

Tracy Oliver (“Little,” “Girls Trip”) will pen the script for the film which follows a team of narcotics detectives who go undercover in a fried chicken restaurant, just as it becomes the hottest eatery in town.

Lee Byoung-heon helmed the original which opened in January in South Korea and has become the highest grossing film of all time there with $127 million, outpacing “Avatar”.

CJ Entertainment and Hart’s HeartBeat production label will produce. This marks their second attempt at a Korean remake together, the first being the still in development female-driven dramedy “Bye, Bye, Bye” about adult friends who reunite 20 years after high school. Amy Aniobi is writing the script.
