(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – There are about 23 new foreign investments for the development of the health sector, Minister of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senarathne said.
Those investments include the building of new hospitals, developing the remaining hospitals, manufacturing of medicine, and surgical equipment.
According to the minister, a Malaysian company has agreed to provide all the equipment needed for the health service on concessionary terms with a grace period of 20 years. It will help to receive the high quality equipment for the development of the health sector, the minister said.
In addition, a Chinese medical equipment manufacturing company also has held discussions with the Health Minister yesterday (14th March) to open a factory in Sri Lanka. They have also promised to educate the Sri Lankan Health sector employees regarding the use of the surgical equipment.
