Sisira Kumara and Sanjeewa share lead in opening round

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Veterans G P Sisira Kumara and B A Sanjeewa fired sensational five under par opening rounds to be joint leaders just one stroke ahead of Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Champion M U Chanaka Perera in 3rd place a further stroke ahead of 4th placed Sampath Kelum. The leading top four golfers mastered the Catalina Golf Club, course in Koggala, in strong windy conditions.

Sisira Kumara fired seven birdies, whilst Sanjeewa shot 5 Birdies and an Eagle, on their way to 5 under par.

Chanaka Perera, scored six birdies whilst Sampath Kelum fired five. The beautiful and neat golf course in Koggala, well groomed, 9 hole Par 72, was not that easy to score in windy conditions but the top ten after Round 1, were just 1 over par on 73. The May edition of the Lectra Grand-Prix, powered by Apparel Technologies, Bobbin group of companies.

As the stiff competition for supremacy continues, the cut-off will be administered after the 2nd round and the 4-round tournament continues at the Catalina golf course in the SLAF golf facility.
