(UDHAYAM, LONDON) – Blue Marble Private, a London based tour company, plans to take their first tour group to the wreck of the Titanic in June 2018. It is not cheap however, with a ticket costing $105,129 each, and only nine lucky persons will make the first trip.
The ticket holders will fly from St. John’s, Newfoundland in Canada to a yacht in the ocean, above the spot where the Titanic sank. There they will receive some underwater training and security tips. They will learn of the sonar technology used to locate the wreck.
Next they will encapsulate themselves inside a submersible, in groups of three, and dive 13,100 feet vertically to the wreck. They will get the chance to observe the remains of the ship, and even catch a glimpse of the iconic staircase.
It is also worthy of note that the price of a ticket, $105,129, is the same price as first class ticket to board the Titanic in 1912, $4,350, adjusted for inflation.
The Titanic tragically sank on 15th April 1912, as it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean on its maiden voyage to America from Southampton. 1500 people lost their lives that day. The tale of the Titanic was immortalized in James Cameron’s 1997 film of the same name, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
