Two held over Kalagedihena assault

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The driver of the defender and another individual have been arrested over an assault incident on a driver of a van in Kalagedihena.

The duo was arrested after surrendering to the Colombo Crimes Division yesterday.

The driver has been identified as a 45 year old of Mathugama and the other individual a 32 year old resident of Polonnaruwa.

The defender was found parked at a residence in Maharagama by the Maharagama Police last evening and is due to be handed over to the CCD for further investigations.

Police said the the defender and SUV involved in the assault incident are registered to two individuals from Ingiriya.

Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunesekera said efforts are underway to arrest the owners as well.

The Colombo Crimes Division is currently conducting investigations into the incident that was reported on Tuesday.

Footage of the assault was widely circulated on social media.
