Postal Unions threaten to strike indefinitely

(UTV|COLOMBO) -The Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance says it is hopeful that the Cabinet of Ministers who convenes today will discuss the grievances of postal workers.

Convenor of the Alliance Chinthaka Bandara Tennakoon has toled media that an indefinite strike action will be launched if permanent solutions are not provided within the next two weeks.

Chinthaka Bandara said postal trade unions ended the sick note campaign, adding however that no party came forward to hold discussions during the 24 hours since the campaign.

He added the issues concerning the recruitment procedures of the postal trade still exist, while stating that postal trade unions will be compelled to launch an indefinite strike action if attempts are not made to resolve the postal workers their demands.
