(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Producer Vashu Bhagnani of Coolie No 1 fame has bankrolled several Bollywood biggies. After more than two decades of being producer, he has finally stepped into Tamil cinema with Nayanthara’s Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, which he’s co-producing along with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Films. Speaking at a recent press meet, the producer, impressed with Nayanthara’s performance in the film, announced that he would be happy to produce a Hindi film, if she agreed to come on board.
Vashu also said that he rather likes Nayanthara’s refusal to be part of the film’s promotions, calling it a necessary move that Bollywood should learn from, so it could save the crores spent on such activities.
Kolaiyuthir Kaalam will be the first Tamil film to be remade in Hindi even before the original version’s theatrical release.
Yuvan is the composer of the film, while Chakri Toleti, who previously helmed Unnai Pol Oruvan and Billa 2, is the director.
