(UTV|COLOMBO) – Leader of the United National Party (UNP), Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has agreed to nominate the Deputy Leader of UNP, Minister Sajith Premadasa as the United National Front (UNF) Presidential candidate.
According to well-placed sources, Premier Wickremesinghe has taken this decision as the Party Leader to prevent the break-up of the Party.
Meanwhile, Minister Premadasa stated that he will not take back the step he has set to contest the forthcoming Presidential Election.
It is also reported that another discussion will be held tonight (24) regarding the issue of the UNP Presidential candidacy.
