(UTV|COLOMBO) – Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Gotabaya Rajapaksa says his aim is to create a people friendly economy.
Speaking during a rally in Maho the former Secretary of Defence said yesterday (13th Oct.) farmers are poverty stricken adding that it is important to support farmers.
He noted the SLPP presented several policies to support and provide relief towards agriculture at the inaugural rally in Anuradhapura, in order to support the income of farmers and transform the country into a self sufficient nation.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa said development of a country is not only based on a faction of the society being developed, adding that the SLPP aims to introduce a people friendly economic plan in order to improve the standards of living of the poverty stricken people.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa said a knowledge centred economy will be implemented within the country, while prioritizing human resources.
He further noted a government that aims to achieve goals of other countries together with Non-Governmental Organizations cannot ensure national security and can neither respect nationalism.
