“President forgot support rendered by the UNP” – Navin Dissanayake

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister Navin Dissanayake says President Maithripala Sirisena has forgotten the support rendered by the United National Party to be elected President.

Speaking during a rally in Hatton the Minister claimed the Head of State was elected through the votes of the UNP, adding however that the President has levelled various allegations against the UNP.

Minister Dissanayake noted the UNP, with the support of the public, and the party leader’s firm stature, defeated the political coup last year.

While stating the UNP informed the President that the party will not abide by his rules, the Minister said the UNP will not be undermined.

Minister Dissanayake stressed the UNP used the party’s strength to regain power following the political coup.
