(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Election Commission says the distribution of leaflets at all state offices, local authorities, government schools, Provincial Councils, state corporations or boards related to the Presidential Election is completely prohibited.
Issuing a statement the Election Commission informed all political parties and independent groups that urging people to vote, holding gatherings or any related activity within such organisations is also banned.
The Commission noted that it is the responsibility of heads of all institutions to ensure the prevention of such activity.
The Election Commission also urged all groups to ensure that state resources are not misused for election related purposes.
