(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – White revealed his admiration for the reigning Lightweight Champion during the conversation and said that he would be open to helping McGregor in any way possible.
“And he’s fighting Floyd Mayweather?”.
In an interview with The Guardian, Hearn said: ‘I don’t mind MMA and I’ve been fascinated by Conor McGregor from a business perspective.
The first step is to make a deal with McGregor on the financial arrangements to allow him to take a fight outside of his UFC contract.
White cautioned the fight was not close to a done deal. While it is true that McGregor has tried boxing at some point of his career, he isn’t in the level of Mayweather as far as boxing is concerned.
“The difference between me and him is this: he has to fight”, the American said.
Meanwhile, Mayweather’s uncle, Jeff, recently told “Eyes on the Game’s” Helen Yee that the UFC wants an 80-20 split from McGregor.
For those not familiar with Jeff Mayweather, he was a very successful fighter in his own right during his career and is a respected trainer in the sport today. “After Conor has his baby, Conor and I are gonna meet in NY and then we’ll go from there”, he said.
“If 80/20 is going to give you more money than you ever made, you really can’t complain about it”, Jeff Mayweather said.
For instance, Top Rank Bob Arum said that if the fight between Mayweather and McGregor will collapse, fans can blame the UFC. If someone says “I want to fight Floyd Mayweather”, I can simply say “yes, let’s make it happen”. I think we’re in a good place.

When White was questioned about those statements, he lashed out at Jeff Mayweather, and especially in the direction of his long-time nemesis Bob Arum, who claims White is trying to get 50% of McGregor’s money.
“Believe me, we have had preliminary talks with Conor and I’m in a good place with Conor”. Of course, everything I say will come of bias because he’s our guy, but you guys judge: Is Conor McGregor not a massive star?
“But when you’ve got a guy like Conor McGregor he has to talk to Dana White”.
How much of a percentage UFC officials actually take from Conor for his big-money fight against the highest-earning fighter in the history of combat sports, remains to be seen.
McGregor has been campaigning for what he believes would be a lucrative boxing fight against unbeaten Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Not no 80-20 with Floyd and Conor.
