Forty-three complaints over misuse of social media platforms

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka (ITSSL) has received 43 complaints pertaining to the misuse of social media platforms during the past 24 hours in connection with the forthcoming Presidential Election.

Accordingly, 17 complaints pertaining to the circulation of misinformation or fabricated content and 12 incidents of attempts made by social media users to tarnish the image of Presidential candidates, have been lodged to the ITSSL.

A total of 69 complaints have been lodged pertaining to the misuse of social media platforms, after the filling of nominations for the Election on 07 October.
