(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) has requested the Election Commission to reconsider the deployment of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) members for election duties on Election Day as its Chairman is allegedly engaged in the promotion of a certain Presidential candidate.
Several Government Doctors have been accused of promoting the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in hospitals.
The CMEV stated that it has notified the Elections Commission of Sri Lanka and the relevant Officials to take prompt action to prevent such unwarranted campaigning activities.
