(UTV|COLOMBO) – All Government schools in the island will be closed today (15) in view of the Presidential Election tomorrow (16), the Education Ministry announced.
Many government schools are being utilised for the Presidential Election which is to be held tomorrow.
They will be utilised as election centres and for other election related activities including counting centres, logistical centres and other facilities during the election period.
Therefore, the Education Ministry announced that all government schools would be closed today to enable preparations for tomorrow’s polls.
The school closure is in response to the Election Commission’s request to the Education Ministry to to allocate school premises for election activities.
