Candidates can sit at a nearby centre if weather obstructed their destination

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Students sitting for the GCE O/L examination could complete their exam at a nearby centre in case of inclement weather hindering them from reaching their scheduled examination centres, the Examination Department said.

“Measures had been taken to send applicants sitting for the GCE Ordinary Level examination to the nearest examination centres in case of inclement weather,” Examinations Commissioner General Sanath B. Pujitha said.

The GCE Ordinary Level exam would be held from December 2 to 12 at 4,987 centres with 541 coordinating centres countrywide.

A total of 717,008 students will sit for the examination. 433,050 school applicants and 282,958 private applicants will sit for the examination.

The provincial education directors and the zonal education directors have been informed of any advice that should be taken if there were any obstacles for applicants to reach exam centres.
