Levies on cigarettes and liquor revised

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A number of levies imposed on cigarettes and liquor have been revised.

The Government communiqué issued with the signature of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Finance stated that levies imposed on the length of a cigarette stick have been revised by between Rs. 13.36 and Rs. 48.35.

Meanwhile, several excise duties have also been revised effective yesterday (04).

Accordingly, all foreign manufactured alcohol bottles except for those sold at duty free establishments and those imported to re-export will be revised.

Additionally, the Finance Ministry stressed that the duty imposed on locally manufactured liquor has also be revised.
