No plans of privatising postal service -Bandula

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Information and Communication Technology Bandula Gunawardana says the government is preparing to provide internet facilities to all post offices across the island from next month.

Speaking during an event in Matara the Minister said the government has no plans of privatising the postal service.

The Minister added the present government will not sell or handover land owned by the Department of Posts to the private sector.

Minister Gunawardana claimed that concerns such as high expenditure in comparison to income generation must be addressed following discussions.

The Minister said a programme must be initiated to bridge the gap and use resources of the Postal Department efficiently and in a productive manner.
