(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in India has uncovered an international drug cartel with links to Sri Lanka and several other countries.
The Press Trust of India reported that 9 suspects had been arrested and narcotics worth about Indian Rs. 1,300 crore had been seized.
The seized drug in India has international value of Indian Rs. 100 crore and the total worth of the seizure effected from this cartel is Indian Rs. 1,300 crore.
The Anti-Narcotics Agency said it seized one of the largest quantity of Cocaine in the country, at 20 kilogrammes, from a drugs syndicate spread across Delhi, the national capital region, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, with global links in Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, Columbia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and the United States (US).
Sharing preliminary inputs, Officials said 5 Indians, an American, an Indonesian, and 2 Nigerians have been arrested in this operation.
The source of 55 kilogrammes of cocaine and 200 kilogrammes of methamphetamine that was seized in Australia has also been unearthed as part of this operation, Officials said.
The syndicate used India as both destination and transit for cocaine consignments, they said.
