Govt. to provide playlist for buses from next year

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The government has decided to provide buses with a playlist of songs which could be played while transporting passengers from January 1, 2020.

Passenger Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said this would be done as a part of the government’s efforts to prevent loud music being played on buses.

The Minister stated that the National Transport Commission has received around 15,000 complaints from the public in this regard.

According to the new regulation, both private and state-owned buses would be banned from playing music CD’s or casettes of their choice. A sound limit too would be imposed for playing radios on buses.
