‘Mahendran’s repatriation efforts underway’

(UTV|COLOMBO) – State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura says efforts to bring down Former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Arjun Mahendran who is allegedly involved in the controversial Treasury bond transactions, are being fast tracked.

Speaking to media in Embilipitiya the State Minister said the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Attorney General’s Department are carrying out necessary efforts.

State Minister Wakkumbura said relevant documents for the repatriation of Mahendran have been handed over to the Singaporean government adding that they hope through diplomatic channels required steps will be taken.

The State Minister commenting on the controversy surrounding a shortage of rice said if there is a mafia in place, steps will be taken to address it adding that the government will intervene and ensure rice will not be sold at high rates.
