Islandwide strike by GMOA today; LPBOA, SLTB, CPC denies involvement

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Several Trade Unions attached to the health, education and railway services will launch a countrywide strike today (05) at 8.00 am for 24-hours over the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) issue.

However, the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Service said they would not participate in today’s trade union strike launched by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).

Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Unions also denied their involvement with the countrywide strike as lengthy queues were forming up with panicked motorists around the city filling stations on Thursday (04).
