(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Dwayne Johnson has been locked to play the villain Black Adam in the “Shazam” film for seemingly years now, but the casting of the film’s titular hero (aka. Captain Marvel) is still not locked.
Last month, Johnson threw out one name as his personal suggestion to play the adult superhero Shazam whom the boy Billy Batson transforms into. That name? Armie Hammer.
Hammer, who previously teased (and then denied) being up for Green Lantern in the DCEU, was asked by Cinema Blend this week whether or not he’s interested.
Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema had previously hinted they intend to split Shazam into two movies, one focusing on the hero and one on Black Adam, with both being a part of the DC Extended Universe. It’s likely at least one of the projects will hit sometime in 2019.
