(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Anil Kumble has stepped down as India Head Coach after a year in charge because his “partnership” with Captain Virat Kohli was “untenable”.
Kumble said Kohli had “reservations” about his coaching style.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advertised the head coach’s job in May but “endorsed an extension” to Kumble’s one-year deal.
Before the start of this month’s Champions Trophy, Kohli denied reports of a row with Kumble, 46.
India were beaten by rivals Pakistan in the final on Sunday.
